Poetry Spotlight | “Mischief Mural on 6th Street” By Eric Lawson
Mischief Mural on 6th Street
At gunpoint, they are forced to paint it over.
To paint over the mural of the resistance.
The resistance to the billionaire autocrat.
The autocrat who forced millions of
innocent Americans into harm’s way just
to ensure egregious monuments would
be lavishly built to his enduring legacy.
A legacy of wiping his vain ass with
the actual Constitution and everything
all idealistic immigrants aspire to after
making their dangerous pilgrimages.
Pilgrimages away from bulldozing
tyranny and the lack of opportunity.
Blind sheep sycophants are eager to
volunteer to eradicate a vibrant past.
A past that was necessary to protect
our way of life for future generations.
Generations that will hopefully live
in a time of harmony and prosperity.
Prosperity that enables murals to be
created by street profits who know
which way the wind blows to freedom.
Freedom to depict machine guns pointed
at five protesters flashing two fingers.
Two casual fingers that are unarmed.
The mural’s title: Peaceful Sacrifice
