Vote on the Cover for “Even Then, Even Now” by Jen Kindbom
Over a year ago we introduced poet and artist Jen Kindbom to our readers. Finally, we are full steam ahead with her fabulous little chapbook, Even Then, Even Now!
Vote now on the cover color!
We’ve finalized the cover design, but the color is still up for debate—and we’d love your vote.
This slim, forty‑page chapbook features ten poems and ten original digital illustrations. It will be printed at 5.5 x 8.5 inches and saddle‑stitched (a simple, elegant binding where folded pages are stapled through the spine). The cover will be glossy, and the interior pages will be full color. Our publisher, Stephanie Johnson Lawson, is serving as designer for this lyrical, visually rich volume.
Take a look at the four cover color options and cast your vote for your favorite. And if you’re willing, please share the poll on your platforms and with your people to help us gather as much engagement as possible.
Note that the images show the full cover spread—the left half is the back cover, and the right half is the front.
As a thank you, everyone who votes will receive a special sneak peek at, “Tulips,” the poem that gives Even Then, Even Now its title.
Your task is simple: Click to cast your vote for the cover color that best embodies this collection!
More about Even Then, Even Now: Poems of Persistence by Jen Kindbom
This is a work of fire, rain, and rebuilding. The speakers look inward—toward memories, past selves, and dreamscapes—and outward, toward a world of both chaos and hope. They do not flinch. They insist on persisting.
Habitats are dismantled and rebuilt. Tulips leap from the earth “more like grasshoppers / or toads than tulips // and then, more like / timber than tulips.” Comfort appears in the smallest rituals: slicing an onion, leaving for work, returning home: “We lean / into each other. We keep leaning.” Attention to our shared, aching home opens into the collective imagination, where echoes of film, literature, and the sonic pleasures of language invite both quiet readers and those who read aloud.
Kindbom’s second chapbook—and third poetry collection—pairs each poem with a simple, colorful piece of original digital art that amplifies its central image. The result is a visually striking, emotionally resonant exploration of resilience. Even Then, Even Now is for anyone who knows the work of rebuilding, the work of persistence.
